WHAT IS THE LEWIS AND CLARK SUMMER INSTITUTE?
LCSI is the summer enrichment component of the Lewis & Clark Institute. (Sometimes that is confusing. LCSI is part of LCI). LCSI has been offering fun and enriching learning experience to its kids since 1983. For three weeks (one session) or six weeks (both sessions), kids in kindergarten through eighth grade pursue interests in the arts, sciences, information technology, playing and working hard. Eager young chemists, budding painters, puppet makers, or future chefs experiment with exciting ideas. Some challenge themselves to grow in classes like stained glass that they've enjoyed for years. Other kids venture into activites that are brand new for them.
LCSI kids (from third grade through eighth grade) attend three, hour-and-a-half classes each day, from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM(There is a very exciting class called"Lewis & Clark Explorers" for kids in grades K-2). An LCSI student may build a wooden stool, paint a portrait, and film a performance in iMovie - all in
same day; others may take some geranium cuttings, design a web page, or learn how to throw a curve ball. Supported by thoughtful and creative
teachers, Lewis and Clark campers reach into new realms, discovering with delight the bright, promising
young people they are becoming.
